MX West RTC Changes Silver Hours

The Sparta RTC location has changed its SILVER program (K-8th Grade) schedule effective the week of May 11th to Tuesday & Sunday.  Tuesday 7:00pm-8:15pm and Sunday’s 6:00pm-7:15pm for the remainder of the off-season (now thru October 31, 2015).

This new schedule will support working around the spring, summer and fall sports schedules.

The primary goals of this camp are to 1) Educate prospective 6th-12th grader about the college recruiting process and their options for wrestling life beyond high school, 2) Offer a diverse understanding of the various college wrestling divisions ie. NCAA Div 1, 2 & 3; NAIA, NJCAA and NCWA; 3) Conduct collegiete level technical instruction sessions; and 4) Provide participating college coaches opportunity to promote their programs and provide them with a detailed recruiting profile booklet of each camper.

Girls Program

GirlWrestlingMichigan Xtreme has launched a GIRLS wrestling program!

As one of the fastest growing sports for women…being that nearly 30 colleges offer scholarships for women wrestlers and the State of Michigan had 160 girls compete in the State Finals this past March, we recognize the need for a Regional Training Center for Girls!  The Michigan Xtreme Sparta-RTC will begin it’s new girls only training program called MX PANTHERS on Monday, May 4th at 7:00pm.  All practices will be open to girls K-12 with or without experience at the MX Sparta-RTC location, 480 State Street, Sparta MI 49345 (located in the fieldhouse behind the Middle School and at the south end of the football stadium).

The program will launch with practices on Monday & Wednesday at 7:00pm.

The cost is $250 per year (12 months), $150 for 6-month membership, $30 for a monthly membership or $10 per practice drop-in fee memberships.

No prior wrestling experience is necessary.

Invite all female (girl) athletes in grades K-12th to attend and get started today!  You can join at anytime!

Team and Individual competitions internally and externally will be coming soon…teams will be organized to travel and compete as well as team gear, uniforms etc. will be made available to all members!

Michigan Xtreme has started a girls wrestling club for all ages K-12th Grade! No prior experience necessary. Invite all girl athletes to join…looking to make this the largest girls wrestling program in the country!!

Women’s Wrestling Facts:

Since 1994, the number of women who wrestle in high school has grown from 804 to over 9904.

24 colleges now sponsor a varsity wrestling program.

Women’s wrestling is now a recognized Olympic sport
California, Oregon, Guam, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas, Hawaii and Washington sponsor a state high school championship.

Women’s high wrestling participation numbers are higher than the NCAA sponsored sports of crew, fencing, skiing, and rifle and NCAA emerging sports of rugby, sand volleyball and equestrian.

NWCA has been instrumental in getting women’s wrestling added as a new sport a number of schools

Information on Women’s College Wrestling Association (WCWA):

WCWA serves as the governing body for women’s college wrestling
WCWA National Tournament will have 200+ athletes competing at it.

There 24 current college teams that are current members, a growth of 2 colleges per year.

All colleges have 30+ members per team.

All members offer athletic scholarships to athletes
